Young Student Athletes and Twin Echo Volunteers Honored at Board of Education April Meeting

School officials and students are honored for achievements at a meeting on April 20, 2026.During the April 2026 regular monthly meeting of the CUSD 10 Board of Education, young wrestlers and volunteers from the Twin Echo PTA were recognized.  

Twin Echo Honors PTA Volunteers:
Twin Echo Principal Dr. Julie Haake recognized two volunteers for many years of leadership and service to the Twin Echo PTA: Sarah Evers and Kim Steward.  

During their time with the PTA, Twin Echo was named a PTA School of Excellence and received the Phoebe Apperson Hearst Award for Family Engagement.  They also coordinated efforts to add a book vending machine at the school, refurbish the teachers lounge and plant shade trees on campus.  

This is the duo's last year at Twin Echo as their youngest children move-on to 5th grade at Dorris Intermediate School.  

Dr. Haake told them, "Thank you for your support and dedication for Twin Echo students, families and staff.  You have made a difference at Twin and we are going to miss you."

Wrestlers Honored for Achievement at State:
Collinsville Middle School Principal Mr. Brad Snow recognized the following students for achievement at State Wrestling Finals:

Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) 2026 State Finals: 

  • Garrett Smith - 6th place in 100 lb. division
  • Tytus Summer - 5th place in the 90 lb. division
  • Trenton Summer - 4th place in the 135 lb. division
  • Kyrie Brown - State runner up in the 126 lb. division
Illinois Kids Wrestling Association (IKWA) 2026 State Finals:
  • Blayni King – 3rd place in the Senior Girls 185 lb. division
  • Juan Daniel Espinoza-Salomon - 5th place in the 110 lb. division 
  • Adiya Bailey - State runner up in the Senior Girls 115 lb. division
  • Natalie Smith - (Dorris Intermediate School) State Champion in Intermediate Girls 88 lb. division
