Get Familiar with E-Learning Plan Before Winter Weather Arrives

Posted Date: 11/06/25 (11:30 AM)

Image shows a transition from weather emergency days to e-learning days, with related icons. As the days grow shorter and colder, it's time to think about winter weather in the weeks ahead.  Collinsville CUSD 10 uses E-Learning days to keep students in class when road conditions or extreme cold make it unsafe for travel.

When weather conditions make travel hazardous, CUSD 10 will declare an E-Learning Day, meaning students will learn remotely from home based on expectations determined by their schools/teachers.

PLEASE NOTE: A complete school closure (Weather Emergency Day) could still be issued if power outages or other circumstances make remote learning difficult or impossible.

E-Learning Days are important because students do not lose instruction due to inclement weather, so learning continues and there are no missed days to make-up at the end of the school year. If school is “Closed” – those emergency days are added to the school calendar.  If no emergency days are used, the school year ends on the designated day.

If the decision is made to declare an Weather Emergency Day or E-Learning Day students, staff and parents will be notified:

  • through our ParentSquare communications platform (email, text, voice call and app notification)
  • through our website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • through local tv and radio stations, as well as newspaper websites
Please use this time to create a plan for your family on possible E-Learning or Winter Weather Emergency days.
