Brion Brown, Student School Board Member, attends his final meeting.Brion Brown, the member of the Collinsville High School Class of 2025 who served as the student school board member this year, attended his last board of education meeting on Monday, May 19, 2025.

The student school board member is nominated CHS administration and chosen by the board of education.  The student attends regular monthly board meetings to serve as the representative and voice of the student body.

Each year, the student school board member selects a project to complete over the course of the year.  Brion chose to research the vaping public health epidemic and its impact in our schools.  He surveyed 1,200 students and staff at Collinsville Middle School and Collinsville High School.

He presented his findings to the board of education during the May 19 meeting.  Information he gathered will be considered as the district looks to combat vaping in new and improved ways.

Brion was honored and thanked by Board President Gary Peccola and Superintendent Dr. Mark B. Skertich.  He received a plaque and bag of Kahok-themed items to take to college with him.

Brion graduated summa cum laude last weekend.  He will attend University of Illinois in the Fall to study actuarial science.
