Dear Class of 2020,
As always, I hope this email finds you and your family doing well. Since my last written correspondence to you, Governor Pritzker has suspended in-person instruction for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. In addition, he extended the Stay-at-Home Order through the end of May. I acknowledge this is a very difficult circumstance to come to terms with as you conclude your senior year.
Our school personnel have done our very best to keep you informed during these uncertain times. I really appreciate your patience and understanding throughout this situation. I would like to share some important “Save the Date” notices with you for planning purposes:
May 2020: Mental Health Awareness Month – Please monitor your email and our school website for forthcoming information and announcements. As always, please contact a trusted adult at CHS if you are aware of anyone who is struggling.
Friday, May 8: This is the last day of school for seniors.
May 8, 11, & 12: Seniors will drop off books, Chromebooks/chargers, and uniforms at designated times on specified dates, which will be assigned alphabetically.
Wednesday, May 13: A virtual honors convocation will be conducted at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 16: A virtual graduation ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. Graduation pictures will be taken throughout the afternoon/early evening at designated times along with diploma pickup at CHS.
I wish we were not in this predicament and you could enjoy senior activities and events in a traditional manner. As you know, this is not possible based on Governor Pritzker’s Orders, Illinois State Board of Education Guidance, and safety measures implemented by health officials.
Please understand that numerous staff members are working diligently to ensure first-class experiences for you based on input from students. We are committed to providing memorable experiences that celebrate you individually and collectively as the Class of 2020. More details will be provided in the future.
GO KAHOKS and CLASS of 2020!
