On Tuesday, January 29, 2008, the newly renovated varsity girls locker room at Collinsville High School was officially dedicated. The locker room is adjacent to Fletcher Gymnasium.
The dedication took place just prior to the 7:30 pm Varsity Girls Basketball game against the Alton Redbirds. Tours of the facility were available between the JV and Varsity games and immediately following the Varsity game.
Funding for the new facility was made possible through the Dr. Peter and Elizabeth Bartsch Trust Fund. The Bartschs' son, Michael, is currently a science teacher at CHS. Michael and Julie Bartsch also have two children attending the school: daughter Michelle and son Andrew.
The Bartsch family was on hand for the ceremony (and shown in the pictures available on the link below).
Michael Bartsch shared these inspirational comments regarding the facility and his family's dedication to education last evening:
"My parents were long time supporters of youth sports and public education in Collinsville.
Many people my age benefited from this support. Now the children of my generation will understand that the action of caring individuals, like my parents, can help them reach their goals.
I would like to thank Mr. Flohr, Mr. Badgely, and Mr. Mike Hollingshead and his staff for their support during this process.
On behalf of the Dr. Peter and Elizabeth Bartsch Trust my family and I are happy to dedicate the newly remodeled Girls Varsity Locker room."
The district extends its sincere gratitude to the Bartsch family as well as all other community and district members who helped make the vision of a new locker room facility for our students a reality.
