Three Collinsville High School seniors were recently recognized for their award-winning essays on the topic, “Does America Still Have Heroes?” Jimmy Maly received first place, Sarah Klarich received second place and Courtney Locandro received third place. The Voice of Democracy contest, which has been a prominent award at Collinsville High School since 1963, is sponsored by the Collinsville VFW. English teacher Mrs. Dana Woodward has coordinated the contest with the VFW since 1999. Maly’s first place essay allows him to advance to regional (and potentially state and national) competition.
