The Collinsville school district has received word that Collinsville High School junior Martin “Austin” Plute has been named one of 30 students in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area to be recognized with the KMOX Student of Achievement Award. Plute is the son of Collinsville residents Martin and Sheila Plute.

The KMOX Student of Achievement program was initiated by broadcaster Jack Buck in 1993 to recognize students who demonstrate outstanding achievements in academics, athletics, the arts, community service and leadership.

In addition to recognition on KMOX Radio and in the local newspaper, Plute will be invited to a luncheon in May to honor his achievements as well as to receive a $3,000 to attend Southeast Missouri State University in the fall of 2011. The $3,000 scholarship is renewable for four consecutive years with a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
