Glenn Williams, 2007 Collinsville High School graduate and lead singer of the popular St. Louis area alternative rock band The New Translation, is ready to rock the Collinsville High School “house” on Saturday, January 9! “This will be a tribute to our school and to our community and our way of saying thanks for the tremendous support we have felt from our friends over the past three years.”
A year after releasing their first CD in December, 2008 (Shift), the band has been busy performing and writing new music. In addition to singer Williams (’07 graduate), other band members include Gerald Dusek (’08 graduate) on guitar and back-up vocals, Al Carretta (’07 graduate) on bass and back-up vocals, Jeremey Martin (’07 graduate) on guitar, and Kory Langreder (’04 graduate) on drums. The group will be back in the studio recording their sophomore disk in February. Two cuts from the group’s first CD, Fall from Grace and To the Start, receive regular airplay on St. Louis radio station 105.7 The Point. The band describes their music as “upbeat, alternative rock—a bit on the ‘pop’ side.” They have been compared to Incubus, Foo Fighters and Taking Back Sunday.
Other bands scheduled to perform at the Winter Jam include Copperview, Building Rome, About Last Night, Doctrine of Ethos and When Bears Attack. Copperview has played with national artist Stone Temple Pilots and Building Rome has played with national artist Ludo.
Tickets for the January 9 concert are $10 and can be purchased at band@thenewtranslation.com or at Bucky’s in Collinsville (1000 Belt Line Road, Collinsville, Illinois 62234). The concert will be held in the Collinsville High School Fine Arts Auditorium (seating is limited to 600), 2201 South Morrison, Collinsville, Illinois 62234. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the 6:30 p.m. performance.
