1st Grade Space Unit Planet PowerPoint Activity

Benchmarks: #4 Communication Tools – 4.2a, 4.2b, 4.2c, 4.2f , 4.2k

 

Teacher Instructions:

Prior to the start of this activity, the teacher should create a folder in the Student Directory (Stud File) titled Planet Reports and another folder titled Planet Pictures.  Images of the planets should be copied or downloaded to the Planet Pictures folder and renamed as needed.  The following websites are good links for planet pictures:

Student Instructions:

  1. Open MS PowerPoint
  2. Select Blank Presentation
  3. Select Text and ClipArt slide
  4. Type the name of the planet in the title box.
  5. Insert Picture of planet by clicking on Insert, Picture, From File.  Locate the image in the Student File, Planet Pictures folder and click Insert.
  6. Type planet facts in the text box.
  7. Save the PowerPoint to the Student File in the Planet Reports folder.

 

Teacher Instructions:

  1. Combine all student PowerPoint slides into one presentation. 
  2. Open a new PowerPoint presentation. 
  3. Select Blank Presentation.
  4. Select Title screen.
  5. Enter the title information. 
  6. Click Insert/Slide From File to find student slides.
  7. Click Browse and navigate to the Planet Reports folder in the Student File. 
  8. Select a student slide and click display.
  9. Click Insert or Insert All to add the slide to your title page presentation.
  10. Click on Browse again to select the next student’s slide and repeat until all slides are added.
  11. Add sound effects and transitions to the presentation.
  12. Save the presentation in the Planet Reports file in the Student Directory.
