SM Sergeant Jerry Duncan visited Kreitner Elementary School to present 4th Grade students with a flag and a framed certificate of appreciation for the letters and gifts that were sent to
him while he was serving as a medic at Balad Air Force Base in Iraq.  The students sent the letters and gifts while they were 3rd Graders.
SM Duncan is the grandfather of two Kreitner students and also attended Kreitner as a child!

First Grade students at Maryville Elementary School were assigned a family project
(making a hat) as part of a Presidential Election lesson.
The students wore their hats and marched around school in a "Victory" parade on November 3.

CHS Kahok Volleyball team wins the Jacksonville Sectional on Thursday night to advance to the "Sweet Sixteen."
This is the first time since 1984 the Kahoks have won the Sectional Championship.

Criteria for the award include achievement in mathematics, enrollment in business courses,

on the footbridge that was constructed by the welding class.
Auto body students provided assistance on the project.
First-year building trades students will pour the foundation in spring.
The bridge is located between the parking lot and the Fine Arts Center at Collinsville High School.

Summit Elementary School honors its top "Reading Counts" reader (most books read)
with the opportunity to serve as an assistant to the principal for a day!
She visited the classrooms, answered questions from the students and took care
of the office phones.

Renfro Elementary School is selected as one of three schools in the nation to pilot
Sodexho's new Handwashing program.
The program is designed to decrease the transmission of germs, increase student attendance
and teach life-long healthy habits to students!

A Maryville 4th grade student was recently selected from more than 100 students for
special recognition in the Do The Right Thing program.  He will be featured in a KMOV Channel 4
upcoming Do The Right Thing television commercial.  The young man donated money to another
student at school so the student could buy a Christmas present for his mother during
Santa's Secret Shop

A Jefferson Elementary student demonstrates a science experiment on condensation
to his 3rd grade class.
He created a cloud of ice, which, when placed over hot water,
allowed his class to witness evaporation, condensation and actual rain!

CHS student Lucas has been awarded 1st Place in the NCAA Art of Sportsmanship Art Competition
(portions of his award-winning drawing shown above).
His work will be on display April 1-4, 2005 at Hoop City at the America's Center in Downtown St. Louis during the NCAA Tournament.
In addition to Lucas receiving a $1,000 scholarship for his design, CHS will receive $400!

One of Mrs. Parrill's Kindergarten students at Kreitner helps save the day!  He was
riding with his grandmother to school when he realized a house was on fire.  He used his
grandmother's cell phone to dial 911 and then directed his grandmother to the
State Park Fire Department (to insure the fire fighters knew the fire's location)
as he remained on the phone with the 911 dispatcher.
He remembered how to get to the fire station from a class field trip earlier in the year!
