Bystanders shared memories of Webster Elementary School on November 15 while demolition crews worked to remove the oldest part of the building.   A new 10-classoom building was recently completed behind the original building.   Students and teachers have already moved into the new building!

Hollywood Heights Elementary School - 5th & 6th Grade students are assisting the CUSD #10 Food Service Provider, Sodexho, with selection of items for the school breakfast and lunch menus.  Here students are treated to a formal luncheon to sample foods prepared for them!

Heidi, a Webster 2nd grader from Mrs. Gregory's class, made a great donation to Locks to Love!  She grew her hair out and then had it cut to help the charitable organization.  Mrs. Gregory starts each day in her classroom by reading Chicken Soup for the Kids' Soul and supports the motto, "Money can help you make a living, but giving makes a life!"

The class in Mexico sent handmade items back to the students to say, "Thank you."
The North students are now using AlphaSmart keyboards to write to the students
in Mexico in hopes of becoming pen pals.

Protect Our Water Now!
Mrs. Harrison's 3rd grade class at Jefferson collected over 3,000 milk jug lids to recycle into a park bench.  The "leftover" lids were made into a mural for the school to remind the students the importance of recycling.

The North Junior High School Volleyball team is this year's Tri-County Conference Champion, S.I.J.H.S.A.A. Region 6 Champion and the Southern Illinois Jr. High Athletic Association Champion.  The team was undefeated in their 7th grade season and are currently undefeated in their 8th grade season!  Congratulations!!

"Dress a Gresh!"  CHS teacher/football coach (and GOOD SPORT) Steve Gresh kept his promise to CHS students by wearing a dress to school after students completed fundraising efforts for a great cause!  Thanks, Coach Gresh, for providing the added incentive for students to help!

4th Grade students from Hollywood Heights visit Springfield on April 14 to learn more about Abraham Lincoln and Illinois history (April 14 was the 139th anniversary of Lincoln's assassination).  The students are pictured here in front of Lincoln's law office.

Deb Harriman's elementary classroom at Hollywood Heights was selected to present classroom technology to state legislators at the Tech 2004 Showcase at the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield on April 23.  Pictured here are Technology Director Sue Homes, Deb Harriman and two of Deb's students! (Present but not pictured is Sharon Putz, Hollywood Computer Support Specialist.)  Lt. Governor Pat Quinn stopped to talk to the students as well as several area legislators, including Representative Jay Hoffman!  Technology Director Sue Homes was presented with the Illinois Technology Educator of the Year Award during a ceremony in the Rotunda.

Future stockbrokers?  Pictured above are the "Stock Market Project" winners from CHS teacher Mark Schusky's class (3rd Period - White Days).  Students increased the value of their portfolios by 6% over a period of three months.  Considering the Market average has been down 10%, they may have a future on Wall Street!

Mrs. Dust's science class at CHS has been studying environmental issues. Of course, recycling is high on the list.  She gave the students a challenge to get all the shredding finished and have the bags reach the ceiling.  Mission accomplished as of May 20, 2004!
