October 23-31 is National Red Ribbon Week! The website explaining the purpose of this National celebration is: http://redribbon.org/about/
We will be encouraging CHS students to lead a drug free lifestyle through various events and fun opportunities during the week of Monday 10/29-31. Please discuss/print/post the following events and let us know if you have any questions!
1) Monday 10/29- teachers will distribute RRW pencils to each student during 1st hour- please check your mailbox for your pencil allotment next week!
2) The following dress up themes for students and staff will apply:
Monday 10/29- Red Day- Wear as much red as possible to show that you are drug free
Tuesday, 10/30- Be On A Drug Free Team Day (Wear Your Favorite Team Gear)
Wednesday, 10/31- College/Career Gear Day- wear your favorite college or career gear to show you are focused on your future and staying drug free
3) We will have a Red Ribbon Week table set up in the cafeteria during all lunch periods on Tuesday, 10/30. Maddie Dietz, Health Promotion Coordinator at Anderson Hospital will be manning this table to speak with students, give them handouts and freebies, etc.
4) Another way to encourage drug free behavior AND to give CHS students the opportunity to win big prizes, please feel free to show the following video in your classroom. This is the annual RRW photo contest- and the prizes are for individuals and for families. Please let me know if any of your students (or your class) chooses to submit an entry so we can keep track of the contest!
Please visit the RRW website for more information and to access tons of valuable resources for your students- having a drug free school is an all hands on deck mission- no matter your content area! :)
Sincerely, CHS Health Education Teachers
